Under the amended Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorist Financing Ordinance (AMLO) (Cap. 615), a registration regime for dealers in precious metals and stones has been established, which comes into effect on 1st April 2023. The oversight and enforcement of registration requirements, as well as the supervision of anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing practices, will be managed by the Customs and Excise Department.
